About Us

Don and Cheryl Taylor Taylors Tartans

After I was in the nursing field for many years, it was time to stay home with our children. Freedom to spend time together and our faith in God are very important in our family.

My adventure with tartan started in 2011, on a folding table in the corner of the living room, and with a sewing machine that consistently jammed.  After purchasing a flat cap for my husband, Donnie, I decided to try to make more of them. Many adjustments later, we finally came up with a flat cap pattern that had a fit we liked.

Acknowledging our Scottish roots, I began creating and adding neck ties, scarves, pet items, home décor and many other tartan products as customers requested different items.

Eventually the folding table was replaced by a beautiful sewing cabinet that Donnie built for me.  The living room started to get plugged with sewing projects, packages, and fabric, cutting tables and totes were filling up more and more of the basement.

In 2022 we moved to another home with a wonderful sewing room that is separate from our living area.  The room is designed for efficiency, allowing us to increase our production as we have branched into corporate gifting.

Over time, I have proudly built a community around the sewing machine.  My team of sewers all live in our rural town of Plaster Rock, NB.  They work with me in all areas of production including fabric cutting, sewing, packaging and coming up with new ideas.  Donnie continues to purchase shipping, edit the website and respond to emails.

Our premium quality fabric is purchased from Canadian suppliers and it is washable.
